Where To Start The X Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the X anime and want to continue the story in the manga, you can start at Volume 17, Chapter 85.
The answer is roughly the same for the movie, but with the addendum that the movie is such a highly condensed version of 17 volumes of manga that it is practically a different story.
What to Expect From The X Manga?
The X manga story comes to life in two forms: the 1996 movie X and the 2001 TV anime. The original movie, while a very good movie, was a super condensed version of the 17-volume manga. It shares some common points with the manga story, but is basically just summing up the plot, exploring it in its own condensed way. You would want to read the manga from the beginning to get the deeper story.
The TV anime, however, is a much slower and more faithful adaptation. That said, the manga itself was canceled, so the manga is completed but has no ending to it. So past Episode 20, the X story is all anime-original content.
Both the TV anime and the X movie have original endings whereas the manga will just end at a random point in the story with no closure.
Is The X Manga Over?
The X manga is technically on hiatus, but it’s canceled. It has been on hiatus since 2003 when it ended with Volume 18, Chapter 158.
Will There Be A X Season 2?
Perhaps if the X manga were to ever get an ending, it might mean an anime would too, but that seems unlikely.
