Both the OVA (AKA Episode 13) and the movie are anime-original stories.
What to Expect From The Wataten Manga?
The Wataten manga has short-ish chapters so it is often adapting several at a time, but the anime is actually a pretty good adaptation of the manga. There were a few chapters that the anime did skip as well as parts of some chapters that they cut out, though.
You don’t need to read the Wataten manga from the beginning in order to understand and jump into the story, but there are a few extra new nuggets if you do.
Is The Wataten Manga Over?
The Wataten manga is complete. It ended in 2025 with Volume 16, Chapter 132.
Will There Be A Wataten Season 2?
As the manga ended without a word recently and the first season aired in 2019, it seems like there is no more interest in more Wataten after the 2022 movie. I don’t think there will be a Wataten Season 2, but yuri is having a surge in anime, so we’ll see.
