I’m not especially knowledgeably about manhua/donghua – that’s more of a Yu Alexis thing – but in the limited knowledge I do have – I know two things. Cultivation plots are isekai-levels of popular and that Chinese animation plays by completely different rules when it comes to being adaptations, episode/season lengths, animation quality, censorship, and much more! War God System is, overall, a great reminder of how different Japanese and Chinese animation sensibilities are.

Where To Start The War God System Novel or Manhua After The Anime?
War God System is weird. Not the story. That’s a fun twist on the standard cultivator formula, but the anime adaption – it was done in a strange way as an adaptation.
War God System! I’m Counting On You anime is based on a novel titled I Might be a Fake Cultivator. That novel was adapted to manhua under the I Might Be a Fake Cultivator title as well.
The anime, however, is not only titled differently, but it seems to be a “inspired by the source material, but not too concerned with adapting it diligently” anime adaptation of the novel and manhua story. As I understand it, this is not an uncommon thing for donghua to do.
So, while the manhua for War God System accurately adapts the novel story, the anime adaptation of the War God System does not.
This means the answer as to where to start the War God System novel and manhua is the same – Start at Chapter 1.
Just, if you are looking for either the manhua or the novel to read, search I Might Be a Fake Cultivator instead of War God System because you won’t find it otherwise.
You will notice that the anime starts in a “similar, but different way” and the story does get increasingly more different from the source material, but still continues to take inspiration from it.
