You have to admire harem anime that is clearly trying to bring fans in with fan service, but actually puts a decent amount of effort into the plot and world-building as well. Trinity Seven is that. Combined with a main character who isn’t a dense harem king and also isn’t as powerful as any other anime of this type would have made him, and Trinity Seven actually ends up a pretty strong product.

You don’t necessarily need to watch the first Trinity Seven movie, Eternal Library & Alchemic Girl, but it is canon. It just isn’t adapted from the main manga story. The first movie adapts the second novel in the 3-volume light novel collection of side stories. So it’s a side story.
The OVA works in a chapter that the anime skipped.

The Trinity Seven anime was an “okay, not great” anime adaptation. It left a lot of the finer details of the manga out, which does give more value than usual to those who read the manga from the beginning. However, if you really just want to see what happens next, you can mange picking up the story with the manga after the anime.
