Is The Spice and Wolf Light Novel Over?
The Spice and Wolf light novel is still ongoing. Since launching in 2006, it had a series of lengthy hiatuses in 2019 and 2021 before releasing a new novel in 2023.
The Spice and Wolf light novel did appear to end in 2011, but came back for more in 2016.
The Spice and Wolf light novel, despite restarting, also has a sequel light novel and manga series that is currently ongoing called Spice and Wolf New Theory: Parchment and Wolf. It follows Cole and the daughter Lawrence and Holo on a journey.
Where To Start The Spice and Wolf Manga After The Anime?
2008 Spice and Wolf:
Spice and Wolf also has a manga series. If you finished the second season of the Spice and Wolf anime and want to read the manga, you want to start at Chapter 37. This would be where Novel 4 starts.
Frustratingly, the manga adapts Novel 4, but skips Novel 3 and Novel 5, which is what the second season of the anime adapts. So the manga adapts Novel 4, then jumps to the events of Novel 6.

Is The Spice and Wolf Manga Over?
The Spice and Wolf manga is complete. It ended in 2018 with Chapter 99.
The light novel actually did end at one point in 2011 before coming back in 2016. So the manga speedily adapts to Novel 17 where the light novel once ended.
What to Expect From The Spice and Wolf Source Material Compared to The Anime?
2008 Spice and Wolf:
As the anime full-on skips over a novel, getting into the Spice and Wolf source material after the anime is more difficult than usual. Furthermore, the manga is also kind of a rushed adaptation of the very detailed light novels as well as just skipping novels, so that may not offer the best story experience either.
It would be easiest to just read the light novels from the beginning. It not only makes for an easier story transition experience, but you will see a ton of details that the Spice and Wolf anime did leave out. Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about the light novels, the original source material, leaving any story out.

Will There Be A Spice and Wolf Season 3?
Spice and Wolf Season 3 is officially off the table. They announced a new Spice and Wolf anime project, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, that has been confirmed to be a remake of the series. It is set to air in April 2024.
