Upon watching Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle , I thought that there was no way they would have enough ways to make this one joke fill12 full length anime episodes without becoming tedious, but boy did they prove me wrong. Like all good “one joke” anime should, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle stretches and expands, even develops its characters in a story that isn’t complex, but is still quite fun.

As is common with these types of anime that rely on skits more than linear plots, the anime jumped all over the place with what it adapts. For example, the final episode adapts moments from Chapter 84 as well as from Chapter 33. In fact, it was trying to make more cohesive plot points, but while actually pretty successful in doing that, the anime skips a lot in between – some of it important to character development later.
As such, I recommend reading the Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle manga from the beginning.
