The concept of solving real crimes with a just slightly supernatural detective is interesting, but I don’t know if Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions really excels as a “mystery” anime since each murder features little investigation and is often just waiting for Ron to find a way to tell Isshiki how to explain whodunit. Still, Ron was a lovely goofy character to watch and it never lingered on one mystery too long.

The anime is a good adaptation of the manga and skips very little. It did, however, skip a one-shot mystery between Chapter 15 and 16 in Volume 3 that you may wish to go read. Outside of that, there is no reason to read this series from the beginning.
