Restaurant to Another World is one of the earliest “food” isekai anime, something that would become a sub-genre in and of itself inside the bloat that is isekai. However, while Restaurant to Another World lets the food shine, it also uses the dishes to explore rather nice character stories.
Unfortunately, when it comes to where to pick up Restaurant to Another World either with the ongoing light novel or the already-concluded manga, there is no actual definitive, satisfying answer.
Where To Start The Restaurant to Another World Light Novel After The Anime?
The easiest answer for the best reading experience is to just read the light novels from the beginning.
The manga is fine too, but you will need to read the “Restaurant to Another World – New Edition” from 2021 that is currently ongoing and well behind the novels. The original Restaurant to Another World manga (that is concluded) is one of those “similar yet different” affairs, and is not a dedicated adaptation of the light novel.

The Restaurant to Another World light novel is still ongoing. Since launching in 2015, the author just kind of… releases novels very slowly and infrequently. The latest novel is Novel 6 released in 2021.
Is The Restaurant to Another World Manga Over?
The original Restaurant to Another World manga is completed. It ended in 2019 with Chapter 29.
As I said above, this manga shares the same first story as the light novel, but tells different stories – with the occasional crossover – from there. So it is well worth reading the manga even if you are continuing the true Restaurant to Another World story with the light novel.
The author launched another manga series, Restaurant to Another World – New Edition, in 2021 that is a more faithful retelling of the light novel story.
What to Expect From The Restaurant to Another World Source Material Compared to The Anime?
Restaurant to Another World is an episodic series in every format. While other episodic anime are usually still adapted in a somewhat linear way, Restaurant to Another World is not. The anime has events from almost every single light novel throughout both seasons of the anime. It skips some events in all of those light novels too. It also adds new events that are exclusive to only the anime.
The first light novel has the most amount of chapters adapted, many of them in the first season, but not all of the chapters are adapted either. About 5 chapters of 20 weren’t adapted, if that helps you make your decision as to whether you skip the first light novel.
Will There Be A Restaurant to Another World Season 3?
There has been no official announcement of a Restaurant to Another World Season 3 anime.
However, the anime does adapt a lot of the light novel, often combined light novel chapters into a single episode. Given the infrequent release of the light novel, I would wager they are too short on content right now to release more anime.
