Ranma ½ was likely a first taste of gender-benders for a lot of people, and I’m sure more than a few people found that they didn’t dislike it. While the gender-bending did lead to a lot of fun shenanigans for comedy, to the credit of the series, it often had some interesting stories outside of the jokes.

What to Expect From The Ranma ½ Manga?
Original 1989 Ranma 1/2
To be perfectly honest, Ranma ½ is one of the worst Rumiko Takahashi anime adaptations. Not as a story, but as an anime adaptation of the story.
I highly recommend just reading the Ranma ½ manga from the beginning. It commits all the anime adaptation sins – Replacing manga characters with anime-only characters, leaving out characters and thus events out completely, changing events, skipping events. This series is long-known to have “anime fans” and to have “manga fans,” very rare are there fans that really love both versions.
2024 Ranma 1/2
If you were to compare the original adaptation and the 2024 remake of Ranma 1/2 right now – setting aside the animation quality – they would actually be pretty similar in the content that was adapted. The original Ranma 1/2 anime was a pretty faithful adaptation in the beginning that went off the rails later.
The 2024 Ranma 1/2 anime is also a pretty good adaptation as of right now. It does cut some of the “natural filler” that the manga had to improve the pacing of the anime story, which many prefer, and so far, it has skipped very little of the important details.
Is The Ranma ½ Manga Over?
The Ranma ½ manga is completed. It ended in 1996 with Volume 36, Chapter 407.
Will Ranma ½ Be a Ranma 1/2 Remake Season 2?
