Where To Start The Psychic Detective Yakumo Light Novel After The Anime?

While Psychic Detective Yakumo is originally based on a series of novels, and the anime does adapt some of those stories, the anime so greatly changes the stories that it would be difficult to continue them after the anime.

Strictly speaking, the Psychic Detective Yakumo anime adapts through Novel 7, but skips and often changes a lot of the story events within. You would be basically be going into the novel with a brief summary of the main story events thus far, and have to deal with some characters having different relationships with each other.

It is strongly recommended to read the novels from the beginning.

Is The Psychic Detective Yakumo Light Novel Over?

The Psychic Detective Yakumo light novel is complete. It ended with Novel 12 in 2020.

Do note that there is a side story series called Psychic Detective Yakumo Another Files. It’s basically just more cases with less focus on the personal stories of the main characters. It ended in 2020 with Novel 6.

Where To Start The Psychic Detective Yakumo Manga After The Anime?

Psychic Detective Yakumo has had two attempts at manga.

The first manga, by artist Miyako Ritsu, was canceled after then chapters.

The second manga, by artist Suzaka Oda, is longer, and complete at Volume 14, Chapter 65. However, while it does more closely adapt the novel story (meaning it has a lot of differences from the anime), it still changes the novel story in its own ways as well. Furthermore, the manga doesn’t adapt past Novel 7, which was where the anime ended. That said, if you do prefer manga over novels, it is still worth a read, particularly if you are a bit invested in the romance element of Yakumo as it has some nice dashing moments. Regardless, the novel is still the way to go for this story.

Will There Be A Psychic Detective Yakumo Season 2?

As the Psychic Detective Yakumo anime aired in 2010, it seems like there isn’t any hope for a Season 2.
