The Pandora Hearts anime is a textbook example of wasted potential. Maybe it was just because it was handed to a low quality studio, but it definitely wasn’t because it was working with low quality source material. Given the popularity of Jun Mochizuki’s other manga adapted to anime, The Case Study of Vanitas, Pandora Hearts and its distinctly anime Alice in Wonderland-themed story deserves a reboot.

The Pandora Hearts anime had an anime-original ending. As such, the anime diverged from the manga at Episode 22. If you wish to continue the Pandora Hearts manga after the anime, you can start at Chapter 33.
The anime adapts two of the three total chapters in Volume 8.
What to Expect From The Pandora Hearts Manga?
The Pandora Hearts anime attempted to make a pretty standard shounen battler out of a series that was not a standard shounen battler. In fact, Pandora Hearts is more a shoujo/shounen hybrid in that is has an action focus, but it is also particular dedicated to making beautiful and surprisingly complex characters.
I strongly recommend reading the Pandora Hearts manga from the beginning for all the details the anime skipped. However, if you just care about the core story, then I guess you don’t need to.
