Nodame Cantabile, the anime, on its own, is perfectly fine. However, when transferring that love of the anime to the manga, it becomes less fine. You see, the anime, while quite long, also skipped over quite a bit. It is not enough that you need to go back and read it from the beginning necessarily, but enough that you should be aware that things were skipped since they can add some context to events.
The long and short of it is that if you enjoyed Nodame Cantabile, reading the manga from the beginning is worth it, but not necessary if you just want to see how things end.
