The My Hero Academia anime does a great job of adapting the manga! It skips very little and really brings the big moments to life. There is no reason to read the manga from the beginning unless you want to.

As for Vigilantes, while it had some small changes to events and did re-arrange a few things, it remained a pretty faithful adaptation of the manga, and you can easily jump in.

The My Hero Academia manga is complete. It ended in 2024 with Volume 42, Chapter 431.

The My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spin-off manga is complete. It ended 2022 with Volume 15, Chapter 126.
