Where To Start The Maoyu Light Novel After The Anime?
If you have finished the Maoyu anime and wish to continue with the light novel source material, you can start at Novel 2, Chapter 5. The anime kind of ends in the middle of the novel.

The Maoyu light novel is complete. It ended in 2012 with Novel 8.
Where To Start The Maoyu Manga After The Anime?
Maoyu also has a manga series. In fact, there are actually three!
The manga titled “Maoyu – “Be Mine, Hero!” “I Refuse!”,” starts after the anime at Chapter 24. This is considered the “main” manga series.
The manga titled, Maoyu – Other Side of the Hill, also adapts the light novel story, but cuts a large chunk out of it and has a much bigger emphasis on fan service and ecchi.
The manga titled simply Maoyu – Archenemy and Hero is, yet again, the same light novel story, but condensed. It includes more content than Other Side of the Hill, but less that Be Mine, Hero. If this one interests you, it is authored by Asami You, which is generally how you can tell it apart if “less than legal sites” are not diligent with their naming.
You also have the option of the Maoyu Gaiden – The Sleepy Female Magician side story manga about the titular character after she parts with the Hero.
Finally, you have the Maoyu – You’re Horrible, Maou-sama, which is a comical, cute 4-koma manga full of shenanigans.
Why three manga telling the exact same story? You’re guess is as good as mine.
Is The Maoyu Manga Over?
All Maoyu manga are completed.
“Maoyu – “Be Mine, Hero!” “I Refuse!” ended in 2016 with Chapter 59.
Maoyu – Other Side of the Hill ended in 2014 with Chapter 39.
Maoyu – Archenemy and Hero (Asami You) ended in 2016 with Chapter 63.
Maoyu Gaiden – The Sleepy Female Magician edned in 2014 with Chapter 29.
Maoyu – You’re Horrible, Maou-sama ended in 2014 with Chapter 36.
What to Expect From The Maoyu Source Material Compared to The Anime?
While Maoyu was a diligent adaptation, moving to the light novels may be difficult due to the writing style used. It is a lot of dialogue and often reads more like a script than a descriptive novel. Personally, I feel anime fans would enjoy the series more if they picked one of the manga series.
Will There Be A Maoyu Season 2?
With the anime having come out in 2013, I’d say the window for a Maoyu Season 2 anime has long closed. Given that all its other series are also concluded, this is a series doomed to fade away.
