For some, that was exactly their jam. However, Management of Novice Alchemist remains a niche, but enjoyable little series.

The anime does technically adapt events from Novel 4, but they go a bit differently than in the anime. While this is a series you should very much consider reading from the beginning, you should at least start at Novel 4.

What to Expect From The Management of Novice Alchemist Source Material Compared to The Anime?

Think of the Management of Novice Alchemist anime as more of a summary of the light novels than a really good adaptation of them. If you want a detail-rich slice of fantasy life story with more fleshed out characters and character relationships, you should definitely read this light novel series from the beginning.

While the Management of Novice Alchemist did an okay job adapting the story, it tended to rush through and – occasionally – just plain old abandon some plot lines that the light novel fully explores. The anime also stopped just short of the yuri tipping point. Those cowards.

Will There Be A Management of Novice Alchemist Season 2?

While the Management of Novice Alchemist did a pretty meh job of adapting the source material, it was also not a particularly well embraced anime either since it lacked everything other than the fantasy slice of life it advertised. So unfortunately, I doubt you will see a Management of Novice Alchemist Season 2 anime.

Furthermore, with the anime releasing in 2022 and the series not releasing a new novel or manga volume since 2022, it makes you wonder if this anime somehow killed the series or if the anime was purely promotional before it was abandoned. Regardless, I couldn’t turn up anything conclusive or official.
