Kannagi, though way past the age when it was actually pretty popular, is one of those series that makes me glad that I am not like many who judge seasonal anime after just watching three episodes. While there is nothing wrong with not watching series that don’t suit your tastes, sometimes you find series that transform amazingly over their run, and Kannagi was one.
At first is was a pretty empty supernatural slice of life that threatened at being a harem, but then a fantastic twist came near the end that gave Kannagi a lot of ponderous depth – and ultimately did make the developing romance deeper too.

If you finished the Kannagi anime and wish to continue the story with the manga, you can start at Chapter 19.
The anime adapts through Volume 3.
What to Expect From The Kannagi Manga?
Aside from the manga art being a little less vivacious looking, what with the lack of color and all, there isn’t really much difference between the Kannagi anime and manga. Anything was skipped over in the anime was extremely small, which means you don’t need to read the manga from the beginning unless you want to.
Is The Kannagi Manga Over?
The Kannagi manga is complete. It ended in 2017 with Chapter 84.
The series also has a also-complete spin-off called Kanpachi. As the author struggled with health issues throughout Kannagi, her brother made Kanpachi, a super deformed parody of the series, to fill the void. Kanpachi ended in 2016 with Chapter 139.
Will There Be A Kannagi Season 2?
As Kannagi came out in 2008, a sequel is very unlikely at this point. Kannagi’s time is long over.
