Where Does The Kampfer Anime End In The Light Novel?

Kampfer has such a distinctly “anime weird” premise in where is so bizarre that it can really only be found in the light novel, manga, anime trifecta. However, while so many come in for the ecchi and the waifus, there is a surprisingly deep action story in there somewhere too.

The Kampfer anime is more adapting the manga story, so it is strongly advised to read the light novels from the beginning since it both cuts things out and does differ from the manga/anime story at significant points.

The numbering for the light novel is a bit weird since they have Novel 8 ½, Novel 9 ½, and Novel 10 ½, which are all short story volumes. So you may only find 12 novels plus three side story volumes.

The anime features an anime-original Episode 12. The OVAs are also what I would describe as “a little bit canon” in that it is working with manga events, but the events in the manga go differently. The OVAs were the first two episodes of a canceled Season 2.

The manga technically adapts the entire light novel story, but the light novel and manga stories do differ in some significant ways, so the manga is not a perfect replacement for the light novel.

What to Expect From The Kampfer Source Material Compared to The Anime?

The Kampfer anime is not such a great adaptation of the light novel. The Kampfer anime is instead closer to the manga story in how the story is told, but it is also not a great adaptation of the manga story either.

As such, it is really recommended to read Kampfer—either the light novel or the manga—from the beginning.

The Kampfer anime not only shaves off a lot of details, but it also adds in a lot of anime-original fluff too. What’s more, if you read either the light novel or the manga, you get deeper lore around the story and more graphic ecchi.

You should also note that the manga and light novel differ from each other in story. The manga is a very sparse adaptation of the light novel story with a different ending. So Natsuru ends up with a different girl at both the end of the manga and the light novel.

Will There Be A Kampfer Season 2?

As the Kampfer anime ended in 2011 and the light novel and manga are both long concluded, a Kampfer Season 2 anime is definitely not going to happen.
