The Kakuriyo light novel is complete. It ended in 2022 with Novel 12.
A special epilogue Novel 13 was released in 2025.
Where To Start The Kakuriyo Manga After The Anime?
Kakuriyo has two manga series, none surpass Season 2 of the anime at present.
The first manga series, by Wako Ioka, is, as of Chapter 70, the latest chapter as of Season 2 ending, around Episode 18 of Season 1.
The second manga series, by Tsugaru Toba, is, as of Chapter Chapter 31, the latest chapter as of Season 2 ending, around Episode 16 of the Season 1.
Both manga are still very much ongoing. The second manga series moves through the story much faster than the original manga, and also releases very quickly, amassing 10 volumes since 2023 while the first manga is only at 12 volumes since starting in 2016. Honestly, I think Season 2 got made as a promotion for the second manga.
What to Expect From The Kakuriyo Source Material Compared to The Anime?
As the Kakuriyo anime was 26 episodes, adapting the contents of five light novels isn’t as ridiculous as it seems. However, like any anime that adapts a light novel, the Kaukriyo anime does leave out a few details and skip some smaller events. That said, there is nothing that merits reading the light novel from the beginning unless you want to.
Season 2, while a noticeable decline in animation and general quality, covered the story fairly well, though it did leave more out than the first season did.
Will There Be A Kakuriyo Season 3?
There has been no official announcement of a Kakuriyo Season 2 anime, and we are all still wondering why it got a Season 2 made so long after the first.
