What to Expect From The In/Spectre Source Material Compared to The Anime?
In/Spectre started life as a singular novel. It was then adapted to manga, then a light novel series sprang up. Fans tend to prefer the manga most. In/Spectre is a lot of dialogue and the manga art does help keep the dense walls of talking a little more interesting. The manga is also the longest entry.
Whether you prefer the light novel or the manga, there is a very large consideration to keep in mind when coming from the anime. That consideration is that the anime does the arcs out of order. So, for example, the last episode of season two was a short story told after the Iron lady Nanase arc (which was Season 1 in the anime). The Yuki-Onna Arc at the beginning of season 2 happened after all the rest of the arcs of season two in the source material.
However, even though the arcs are out of order, the anime adapts them rather diligently so you don’t need to read the series from the beginning.
Will There Be A In/Spectre Season 3?
There has been no official announcement of a In/Spectre Season 3 anime.
In/Spectre is actually quite popular, and it getting a second season supports that. Given that the manga is also seen as the primary source material, and there is still plenty to adapt, a season 3 seems likely someday.
