Both series have messy anime adaptations and have a wacked out release schedule. However, if you watched the Hunter x Hunter anime by happenstance and have been very charmed, it is best to dive deep into the manga.

Where To Start The Hunter X Hunter Manga After The Anime?
For Hunter X Hunter there are two versions of the anime – the 1999 version and the 2011 version. Both series start off at the beginning again, but it is generally agreed upon that, because the 2011 version adapts more, it is superior. Of course, both have their serious flaws compared to the manga.
If you watch the 1999 version of Hunter X Hunter, then you will probably just want to go watch the 2011 version, which you can start at Episode 76. However, if you want to go right into the manga from there, then you will want to start at Chapter 185.
If you watched all the way through the 2011 Hunter X Hunter adaptation, then you will want to pick up the Hunter X Hunter manga at Chapter 339.
What to Expect From The Hunter X Hunter Manga?
In terms of anime, the 1999 version played a little more fast and loose with the manga story. However, both anime series told a more concise story compared to the manga, cutting a fair bit of the meandering and fluff. Although, they also added more Killua/Gon friendship fluff as well.
That said, the major difference between the Hunter X Hunter manga and its anime series is that the manga is often a lot darker and gory.
Is The Hunter X Hunter Manga Over?
The Hunter X Hunter manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 1998, it suffers under long hiatuses due to the authors’ declining health and usually only gets a volume out every few years.
Will There Be More Hunter Hunter X Hunter Hunter Anime?
Unfortunately, the biggest thing standing in the way of more Hunter X Hunter anime is a lack of chapters. As a shounen action anime, it goes through chapters fast and only has 400 chapters available (as of 2024).
It needs time, and with how frequent the hiatuses are, it is going to need a lot of time.
