Where To Start The Hikaru no Go Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Hikaru No Go anime and want to continue the story in the manga, you can start at:
- If you finished the Hikaru No Go TV anime – You can start the manga at Volume 19, Chapter 149.
- If you finished the Hikaru No Go Journey to the North Star Cup OVA – This adapts Chapters 167 through the end of the manga, Chapter 189. Though, it does so badly and it’s recommended to just start at Chapter 149.
Volume 18 is all side stories, and the chapters are labeled Chapter 148.1 through 148.7. They are optional to read.
What to Expect From The Hikaru no Go Manga?
Hikaru no Go is actually a really good adaptation of the manga right up until you get to the OVA. The OVA adapts the plot of the final arc, but also kind of leaves out all the parts where they actually play Go as well as ends the series a bit differently.
So definitely pick up the manga where the TV anime ended and disregard the OVA. Doing so, you will be able to jump right into the story. You don’t need to read the Hikaru no Go manga from the beginning unless you just want to.
