I like isekai parodies, and I like them even more when they are actually just fun comedy. Kemono Michi captured my heart like Genzo captures fantasy creatures.
That said, this is kind of a first for me – the manga series is more of a continuation/sequel of the anime than an adaptation of it despite being made before the anime. I had to go check the publication date and everything because it was quite the strange phenomenon.
So where does the Kemono Michi anime leave off in the manga? Chapter 1!
You see him suplex the princess, run off to start a pet shop, and then it time skips half a year later where he already has Shigure, Hanako, and Camilla working with him. In fact, the anime actually builds out how he even met them where the manga does not. So, in essence, all of the content in the “source material” is actually new content. It is pretty plotless, but still very fun.
