What to Expect From The Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens Source Material Compared to The Anime?
Covering four light novels in 12 episodes of anime isn’t a good thing. Basically what you got was a brief summary of the arcs, with each novel being a new arc for the main characters, without much of the in-depth characterization for the main characters and characters involved in those arcs.
Furthermore, the events of Novel 3 and Novel 4 were switched in the anime, though they are so disconnected from each other and, again, much of the character development for the main characters was left out that the order didn’t actually matter much. It is just something to note.
I would say it would be better to read the light novels from the beginning, but also the anime did sort of spoil the events of all four of them. All you would get that is new would be mostly character moments.
If you really have an interest in the main characters, read the novels from the beginning. However, strictly speaking, you wouldn’t have much of an issue just jumping into the novels.
