As far as anime adaptations go, Haikyuu should really be the example. It is one of the few series that adapts the manga really quite faithfully to the point where there is really no reason to start at the beginning.
Where To Start The Haikyuu Manga After The Anime?
If you have finished through Season 4 of Haikyuu (the fourth season also known as “Haikyuu: To the Top Season Two”), then you can jump into the Haikyuu manga at Chapter 293.
Season 4 adapts five chapters of the nine total chapters in Volume 33.
Please note that OVAs “Land Versus Air” and “The Path of the Ball” are canon content and should be watched. If you did not watch them, Land Versus Air covers content from Chapters 190 through 198 and The Path of the Ball covers Chapters 199 through 206.
If you also watched the latest movie (and canon continuation of the story after the 4th Season), Haikyuu The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, you would then start at Chapter 326. Part two of the movie will adapt the rest of the series (through Chapter 407), presumably.
What to Expect From The Haikyuu Manga?
The Haikyuu anime does skip and change a few things as well as rush through some games. However, there has been nothing too major that the anime has skipped. If anything, the biggest bits you miss out on in the anime are the cute comedy extras that are sometimes adapted, but most often skipped completely.
There is no reason to read the Haikyuu manga from the beginning unless you want to.
Is The Haikyuu Manga Over?
The Haikyuu manga is complete. It ended in 2020 with Chapter 407.
Will There Be A Haikyuu Season 5?
There is one more movie due after Battle at Garbage Dump, but its release date is unknown. It is also unknown whether or not it will adapt the rest of the story or not.
It is distinctly possible that the series will be wrapped up in – if not the next movie – another movie after that one. So probably movies rather than a fifth season.
