Perfectly fine story, ten tons of creative characters, and a bad adaptation of the story with basic animation and a dogged production that killed the show for even those that decided to keep giving it a shot past three episodes. So ends the tragic tale of Haigakura.

What to Expect From The Haigakura Manga?
The Haigakura manga actually has pretty long chapters, and anything that didn’t suit their needs for pushing along the story in the anime—got cut out. This means most of the character moments that help establish all the many side characters, smaller stories, slice of life moments, ect.
So much was cut out of every chapter it adapted that Haigakura is a manga better off read from the beginning.
Is The Haigakura Manga Over?
The Haigakura manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 2008, it releases about a volume per year.
Will There Be A Haigakura Season 2?
There has been no official announcement of a Haigakura Season 2 anime.
The conversation with the dragon and the flashback in ep 13 is from chapter 40 at the end of Vol 8. Then it gets murky but the anime sprinted to this point.
