The Gushing Over Magical Girls anime skipped some small moments and did adapt a few pages from later chapters, but otherwise it was a pretty great adaptation of the manga. The only real complaint is the animation budget went to the ecchi and not the action, but that’s probably the right decision.
Regardless, you don’t need to read the manga from the beginning unless you want to since it didn’t skip anything plot important.
