In a way, it is actually pretty cute that Gravitation – a boy’s love anime about a struggling pop star finally gaining traction (and entering a toxic relationship with an author) – is the anime that really started to bring boy’s love anime out from the shadows.
Like Shuichi and Bad Luck gained spotlight, BL gained some spotlight too. However, it is hard to say whether people stayed with Gravitation for the BL or the heaps of drama.

Where To Start The Gravitation Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Gravitation TV anime and wish to continue the manga, you can start at Chapter 32, though it is not recommended.
The anime also has an anime-original ending (the bit with Shuichi losing his voice). Their Disneyland date and Eiri disappearing are canon events, as well as Eiri’s teen backstory although that is explored later in the manga.
The Gravitation Lyrics of Love OVAs, released prior to the TV anime, are not a direct adaptation of the manga. It is just more Gravitation shenanigans.
What to Expect From The Gravitation Manga?
Gravitation is often chaos. You can see pieces of that in the anime, but the Gravitation manga is far more over the top with most things. The Gravitation anime toned everything down – the over-the-top exaggerated moments, the more physical boy’s love moments, and even the characters in general are more bland and less developed.
It is strongly recommended to read the Gravitation manga from the beginning due to all the various changes that the anime made to events in order to create a more grounded anime story.
While the Gravitation anime does technically hit key plot points, the anime often changes how it gets to them. Furthermore, by starting the manga from the beginning, you will better acclimatize yourself to the fast-paced, more wacky storytelling style that the manga has.
Is The Gravitation Manga Over?
The Gravitation manga is complete. It ended in 2002 with Chapter 54.
The Gravitation manga also has a direct sequel manga called Gravitation EX. It ended in 2011 with Chapter 25.
Other Gravitation Manga
Gravitation’s author really liked her story, so much so that she made a lot of different side content, including Doujinshi for her own series in a DJ circle. Other Gravitation manga projects include:
- Help (Manga, Complete) – Help was the “pre-Gravitation” series where the author worked with the characters from Gravitation, but in different story roles.
- Gravitation The Novel (Complete, Light Novel ) Two novels, Gravitation Red and Gravitation Blue that are technically set post-series, but is really just “more Gravitation” about the band planning a TV concert and Eiri being cold.
- Gravitation: Voice of Temptation (Complete, Light Novel) – Shuichi has writers block.
- Gravitation: The Shindou Household’s Circumstances (Manga, Complete) – Single volume comedy slice of life about the home life of Shuichi, Riku, and Eiri.
- Gravitation Remix (Doujinshi, Complete) – Erotic encounters of various Gravitation characters
- Gravitation Megamix (Doujinshi, Complete) – Even more erotic pairings of Gravitation characters. More graphic than Remix.
- Graviation Megamix Panda (Doujinshi, Complete) – Further erotic pairings
- Gravitation Megamix Capybara (Doujinshi, Complete) – Even further erotic pairings
- Gravitation Megamix Kumagorou (Doujinshi, Complete) – More erotic pairings, but with the most ominous content warning of the lot?
Will There Be A Gravitation Season 2?
Gravitation is boy’s love from another age. I don’t think modern audiences would really welcome more Gravitation anime, and it likely won’t be made.
