At first, I thought this just had a unique hook for a comedy, but damn if it it didn’t get so intriguing by the end. Given the pace the season took, it seems like one of those series meant to sell light novels and it did that job very well since there are things we all need to know by the end of the anime.

However, I can’t find the Japanese version to read further without paying for it, but as of Chapter 79, the last translated chapter, it is only up to episode 7 where they are dealing with the meeting with King Ordalasse going awry.
That is in volume five of a series that has, at present 11 volumes, so the manga surpasses the anime at some point. I don’t think anyone is translating it currently, however.
