Where To Start The Gate Light Novel After The Anime?
If you have finished both seasons of the Gate anime, you can start the light novel at Novel 6.
Be sure it is from Season 1 of the light novels since Season 2 of the light novels follows new characters with the Maritime Self Defense Force.
Is The Gate Light Novel Over?
The Gate light novel is complete. It ended in 2011 with Novel 10.
The Gate Season 2 light novel is still ongoing, but hasn’t released a novel since Novel 5 in 2020.
Where To Start The Gate Manga After The Anime?
If you wish to start the Gate manga after the anime, you can start at Chapter 86. The anime adapted some of this chapter, but not all.

- Gate – Piña’s Rose Order of Knights – Spin-off about Pina’s life prior to the Gate opening.
- Gate – Featuring The Starry Heavens – Spin-off of if the girls from Gate were an idol group.
- Gate! Yonkoma – a 4-koma manga about the school at base. Cute and comedic.
- Mei Company – A doujin made by Itami in Gate about magical girl dropouts who became house cleaners.
Is The Gate Manga Over?
The Gate manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 2012, it has releases two volumes per year.
What to Expect From The Gate Source Material Compared to The Anime?
While the anime adapts the story of the light novel quite well, many will find a different experience going to the manga. The Gate manga is a lot more dedicated to showing the horrors of war are well as the pleasures of fan service. This can be jarring to people coming from the more tame anime version of things, but not necessarily in a bad way if you don’t mind tits and gore.
Will There Be A Gate Season 3?
There has been no official announcement of a Gate Season 3 anime.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem likely that the rest of the Gate story will be adapted given that the original story is long over. There might be an anime following the Part 2 of the light novel, but at this point, I think the ship for Gate anime has failed.
