Where Does The Ga-Rei Zero Anime End In The Manga?

What is it about Segawa Hajime’s works that make anime studios have such a hard time adapting the stories in any diligent or quality way?

While Ga-Rei Zero serves as a prequel to an interesting story, and is pretty good in its own right as an anime, it doesn’t exactly give you the anime experience you want for the Ga-Rei manga.

Where To Start The Ga-Rei Zero Manga After The Anime?

If you finished the Ga-Rei Zero anime and want to continue the story with the manga, you can start at Chapter 1.

Ga-Rei Zero is an anime-original story that serves as a canon prequel to the actual Ga-Rei manga. So Ga-Rei Zero isn’t adapting the Ga-Rei manga story at all.

That said, Ga-Rei Zero is actually a great prequel to the manga and was well worth watching before reading the manga. It sets up the characters well for the story and you can move right in to the manga smoothly after the last episode of the anime.

You will notice that the anime follows Yomi as more of a main character while the manga focused more on Kagura as the main character. Yomi is still present, but in a bit of a different role.

Is The Ga-Rei Zero Manga Over?

The Ga-rei manga is complete. It ended in 2010 with Chapter 56.

How is Ga-Rei Zero Related to Tokyo ESP?

You may occasionally see Tokyo ESP mentioned in relation to Ga-Rei Zero. However, while the Tokyo ESP series and Ga-Rei share the same author, the two series are unrelated. They aren’t even set in the same universe.

Outside of sharing the same author, characters from Ga-Rei Zero make small cameo appearances in the Tokyo ESP anime. However, those appearances are anime-original and not in the Tokyo ESP manga.

Both series do have a proper crossover in the Tokyo ESP X Ga-Rei: Shadow Walker manga. However, it is only five chapters long.

Will There Be A Proper Ga-Rei Anime Adaptation?

It would be nice if Ga-Rei some day got an actual anime adaptation. However, the time to do that was after Ga-Rei Zero in 2008, and that never happened.
