Premiering in an increasingly saturated sea of “trapped in/isekai’d into/VRMMOing in a video game world” anime, Full Dive got decently slept on.
That was further augmented by its less than stellar initial episodes. However, for those that stuck with this underrated comedy gem, it delivered a fun twist on a still-common anime set up.

Is The Full Dive Light Novel Over?
The Full Dive light novel is technically ongoing. However, it released two novels in 2020, two novels in 2021, and nothing since.
Light Tuchihi, the author, likes to start series, but doesn’t like to finished them. His other famous, also adapted to anime work, Cautious Hero, also suffers from this.
Where To Start The Full Dive Manga After The Anime?
While Full Dive had a manga series, it appears to have been canceled after 11 chapters. It appears to end around Episode 6 of the anime and adapts the first light novel volume.
What to Expect From The Full Dive Source Material Compared to The Anime?
While seeming like a series that might not have been such a good adaptation, the Full Dive anime actually adapts the light novel story well. Unlike other more serious light novels, the Full Dive light novel is more focused on the comedy and not exactly detail-rich or lore-dense. Most of what it skips is just smaller jokes.
So you don’t need to read the Full Dive light novel from the beginning unless you want to.
Will There Be A Full Dive Season 2?
While there are technically two more light novel volumes that could be adapted to anime, I think this series was low-key on its way out and the anime was a “one last push for sales” promotion. This is supported by the fact that they have not released any more light novels since 2021 just past when the anime aired.
