The Fruit of Evolution is one of those somewhat generic isekai anime series that is easy to hate, but you know what is incredibly hard to hate about it? Its jokes. In fact, I often liked the jokes better than the storyline, but part of the charm is that the jokes were intense, but occasional. I guess a lot of people must have felt the same way because the studio slaughtered the series with comedy in season two.
Where To Start The Fruit of Evolution Light Novel After The Anime?
Before we got to the answers, I want to preface that these “source material pick up points” are for after season one of The Fruit of Evolution only. Why not season two? Season two of The Fruit of Evolution is what we call “an adaptation killer.” It was not only disliked by fans of the source material, but by anime-only fans as well for its hard lean to random comedy rather than the situational comedy that made season one so lovely.
A shift to more comedy with a different comedic style is not the major sin of The Fruit of Evolution season two, however. The biggest sin they commit is greatly cutting characters, and thus plot, from the adaptation for jokes instead. There is no easy entry point after season two that would make sense when reading the light novel or the manga.

As is typical, the first season of The Fruit of Evolution greatly sped through the light novel content, but it did at least keep all the characters and tell every major plot point. Mostly what they skipped is small character moments and some jokes, so there is merit to reading the series from the beginning, but not necessary.

Will There Be A The Fruit of Evolution Season 3?
It caught a lot of shit when it came out, but first season of The Fruit of Evolution was actually pretty enjoyable. The second season, however, even fans were less enthused about. As such, I really don’t think The Fruit of Evolution will be getting a third season given how mismanaged the second one was and that the light novel has now ended.
