While perhaps a bit too heavy on the amount of recaps it had in it, Firefighter Daigo provided the representation that emergency services sorely needed in anime.
While it has a familiar way of storytelling, Firefighter Daigo was a completely grounded approach to the dangerous, but interesting profession of a firefighter, showcasing real techniques and real struggles. It was endearing and surprisingly gripping.

What to Expect From The Firefighter Daigo Manga?
The 2023 Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange anime is actually a sequel to the Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M manga, which has a movie adaptation that very quickly sums up what is a complete 20-volume manga.
You you don’t need to read the original manga, but you would better understand a lot of back stories if you did, particularly the stories of the older firefighters.
That said, Firefighter Daigo did a great job adapting the Rescuer in Orange story, skipping very little. Both Daigo series had a very shounen-style storytelling approach to firefighting where each new “fire” is a chance for growth, so they didn’t skip much. You don’t need to read the Firefighter Daigo manga from the beginning unless you want to.
Is The Firefighter Daigo Manga Over?
The Firefighter Daigo manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 2021, the manga usually releases three volumes per year.
It was announced in February 2024 after the ninth volume that the manga had completed “ Part 1” of the story and would be on hiatus. It has not announced when it will return.
Will There Be A Firefighter Daigo Season 2?
Unfortunately, there is not enough material to furnish a Firefighter Daigo Season 2 anime. The first season was long and nearly caught up to the manga, and with the hiatus, it will take longer to generate more content.
