The second Dr. Slump anime adaptation attempt, simply titled Dr. Slump (1997), was an attempt at remaking the Dr. Slump series using newer animation, changing character designs, and making numerous changes to the story. Most people were not fans of it, and it is generally not a good adaptation of the manga since it more frequently jumps around, changes events, and just skips a lot more of the story.
If you were a fan of the 1997 Dr. Slump, you would want to read the manga from the beginning.
Is The Dr. Slump Manga Over?
The Dr. Slump manga is complete. It ended in 1984 with Chapter 236.
Will There Be More Dr. Slump Anime?
An unfortunate truth is that now, after Akira Toriyama’s passing, a Dr. Slump anime project has never been more likely. However, even with that aside, more Dr. Slump anime is still very unlikely because it only really celebrated much popularity in Japan, and not globally like Dragon Ball.
