However, the setting is interesting, but it is definitely their ability to create a likable demon lord that also still acts like one that carries this show.

What to Expect From The Demon Lord 2099 Source Material Compared to The Anime?
Like with any light novel adaptation, there are a number of small details that are cut out of the anime. However, there was nothing major in the actual plot that was skipped. They just cut out and changed a few of the smaller moments between the characters that won’t affect much.
The manga moves more at the pace of the anime, so you can’t really go get those same skipped details by reading it either.
Regardless, there is no reason to read the Demon Lord 2099 light novel from the beginning, unless you just want to.
