As Clockwork Planet adapts the arc-based light novel story at a pretty fast pace, it does skip over a few finer details and moments. If you don’t want to read the light novel from the beginning, you can actually see many of those skipped scenes in the manga, however.
Regardless, nothing it skipped was particularly plot-important, so while you don’t need to read Clockwork Planet from the beginning, but there isn’t actually much more story to read.
