Where Does The Claymore Anime End in The Manga?

It is always so sad when an anime studio realizes a series they are adapting won’t be continued and tries to end it. This firmly shuts a door to manga fans and gives unsatisfying closure to anime only-fans. Claymore is that sort of beast, which makes picking up the manga both necessary and more complicated.

Where To Start The Claymore Manga After The Anime?

In Claymore, the anime covers up up to the Northern Campaign arc. Everything before that is pretty faithful, but the anime exponentially diverges in the Northern Campaign arc. Technically, you can stop watching the Claymore anime at Episode 23 and pick up the manga at Chapter 59 and be fine.

However, it is recommended, because things do change a bit, to just start at the Northern Campaign arc in the manga, which is Chapter 49. This would be around Episode 18 of the anime.

What to Expect From The Claymore Manga?

I can’t fault the Claymore anime for diverging to create a cleaner anime-only ending when they knew the series would not be continued. That said, Claymore is what can be described as an “okay, not great” adaptation of the manga. It adapts much of the core story, but gets increasingly sloppier with the details as it goes on, particularly leaving some stuff out concerning Teresa.

While not strictly mandatory, you should consider reading the Claymore manga from the beginning for a better story experience.

Is The Claymore Manga Over?

The Claymore manga is complete. It ended in 2014 with Chapter 2014.

Will There Be A Claymore Season 2?

A Claymore remake is more likely than a Claymore Season 2 anime. However, neither have been officially announced.

As Claymore is a series long-concluded at this point, the anime is likely to just drift into obscurity if it is not there already.
