Where To Start The Cat’s Eye Manga After The Anime?

Cat’s Eye (1983)

It is recommended to read the Cat’s Eye manga from the beginning.

The issue with the Cat’s Eye (1983) anime is that it is adapting the events of the manga, but making some large changes to the events. Furthermore, the anime not only jumps around the manga, but it also has a fair amount of anime-original filler. Perhaps worse of all is that most episodes are a mix of elements from various manga chapters, but also combined with anime-original changes.

While Season 1 of Cat’s Eye (1983) (Episode 36) covered through Chapter 67, the anime surpassed the manga after that point. So while you may see prior chapters adapted after that, the anime only uses light plot progression similar to later in the manga, but events definitely do not go like they do in the manga.

Cat’s Eye (2025)

Like with the above anime, reading the Cat’s Eye manga from the beginning after the 2025 reboot is recommended.

Strictly speaking, the Cat’s Eye (2025) anime adapts up to Chapter 67, but not diligently.

The 2025 remake anime essentially takes major heists from the manga and adapts them into an episodic form. Whereas you could argue that the 1983 anime has too much filler, the manga also has a lot of fun slice of life moments between the characters, but the 2025 anime cuts most of that out and streamlines the relationships a bit so it can focus more on the heist stories.

Finally, the 2025 anime does take its own liberties with the story, which is mostly just cutting out some of the sexier allure the manga has (it’s not ecchi, but more flirty) and adding modern technology.
