Hidden between the T and the A, there is actually a creative story in Campione. However, it isn’t that the ecchi hides it, it is that poor decisions when writing and directing an anime hides it.
If you were to read the Campione light novels, you would find a much more competent action story with still all the ecchi harem elements that you loved.

Where To Start The Campione Light Novel After The Anime?
If you finished the Campione anime and want to continue the story with the light novel, the anime ends at Novel 5, Chapter 6, skipping adapting Chapter 7 and the Epilogue for that novel.
While that is where the anime ends, that’s not where I recommend you start the light novel. I recommend you read it from the beginning.
Is The Campione Light Novel Over?
The Campione light novel is complete. It ended in 2017 with Novel 21.
Where To Start The Campione Manga After The Anime?
While Campione has a manga, it ended after only 11 chapters.
What to Expect From The Campione Source Material Compared to The Anime?
As an adaptation of the light novel, the Campione anime is a huge mess. The anime both tells the light novel story out of order and it diverges from the novels completely at episode 12.
This means it also wedges in 5 novels in 12 episodes. The first episode alone crammed in the entirety of Novel 3, so that’s pretty bad.
You will find that Campione is much better as a story (and not just an ecchi harem, though it is still that) if you read the light novels from the beginning.
Will There Be A Campione Season 2?
As the anime came out in 2012 and completely bungled the story, it is safe to say a Campione Season 2 is off the table.
