Bye Bye, Earth, a story from nearly two decades ago, displays some deep and detailed fantasy anime worldbuilding – the type of detailed worldbuilding that isekai gleefully murdered with its money-printing formula.
However, all that is for naught if you don’t really create an entertaining product, and the anime failed to do that. It had some wonderful bones, but the cuts from the story the anime made ultimately made the anime hard to understand, and thus, hard to enjoy.

Where To Start The Bye Bye Earth Manga After The Anime?
While Bye Bye Earth has a manga series, it seems to be canceled. It’s short chapter count got past the Katacombs arc and ends in a different way than the anime and light novels. It essentially just condenses the last two novels into about three chapters for a quick and sloppy ending.
The manga is pretty similar up to Chapter 15, which is just after the Katacombs Arc. So if you want to see the manga ending, which is different from both anime and light novel, you can technically start there. There just isn’t much to read.
Is The Bye Bye Earth Manga Over?
The Bye Bye, Earth manga is complete. It ended in 2022 with Chapter 20.
What to Expect From The Bye Bye Earth Source Material Compared to The Anime?
The Bye Bye, Earth anime was a fairly good adaptation of the light novel story except for the fact that it did the traditional light novel anime adaptation thing where it cut out a lot of details and exposition that are important for lorebuilding and worldbuilding.
What that did is make the entire plot of the series difficult to grasp because you don’t fundamentally understand the world, which works with different rules than our own.
So if you enjoyed the Bye Bye, Earth anime, it is strongly recommended that you read the light novel from the beginning for a better, more coherent, actually really quite good story experience.
Do note that the manga is similarly sparse on the details and also changes a lot of novel details. So that is not an applicable substitution for the light novel story.
Will There Be A Bye Bye Earth Season 2?
Following the first season a Bye Bye, Earth Season 2 was announced. It is set to air sometime in 2025, but no further details have been released.
Given that it has two novels left, it is almost guaranteed to adapt the rest of the story.
