As a fan of the original Naruto, I thought Boruto was interesting in that it really invested you in the lives of older characters while also showing you the next generation with a new story.
That said, I thought Naruto and its passion for filler made it a bit confusing sometimes. Boruto, I guess, had to out due its predecessor in that respect.

What to Expect From The Boruto Manga?
Now, as the Boruto anime has 293 episodes, that start point for the manga seems a little…early. That is because, as I said, Boruto is an extremely strange anime adaptation. The Boruto manga and the Boruto anime are meant to exist as parallel timelines that occasionally intersect at some events.
This means that you see things in the Boruto anime that are canon to the anime, but will not appear in the manga. You then will see events that happen in both the anime and manga. That is where you pick up in the manga, after the last “intersecting event.”
It’s a fun and innovative way to create a weekly shounen anime series without the risk of overtaking the source material and being forced into unloved filler, although since Studio Pierrot had to pause anyway due to production issues, I see it didn’t quite work out for them.
Is The Boruto Manga Over?
The Boruto manga is ongoing. Since launching in 2016, it usually releases three volumes per year.
The Boruto Part I manga, Next Generations, ended in 2023 with Chapter 81. The Boruto manga started its “Part II” in 2024, titled Two Blue Vortex.
Will There Be A Boruto Season 2?
A second season for Boruto Next Generations has been announced, but there has been no official news as to when it will air. Given the how close it is to finishing the Next Generations manga, it will either be very short, filled with filler, or will start on the Two Blue Vortex story.
