Where To Start The Bokurano Manga After The Anime?
While the Bokurano anime does provide you with a complete story with a pretty conclusive ending—the Bokurano’s anime ending is not the Bokurano manga’s ending.
The Bokurano anime diverged from the manga early and often, allegedly because the director was not a fan of how the Bokurano manga story went.
It is strongly recommended to just read the Bokurano manga from the beginning. The anime changed a number of the fights, neutering out the tactical nature of the battles in lieu of large scale destruction, it switched the order for some of the kids, and either abridged the back stories of most kids or just full-on changed them.
Essentially, the Bokurano manga is a much darker, more bleak story than what you got in the anime.
There are some that recommend starting after Maki’s battle, which would be Volume 5, Chapter 29. The next battle is where the actual story diverges significantly (on top of cutting almost all Kirie’s personal story). However, be aware that by starting there, you still miss some significant characters stories (some of them very good compared to what the anime gave you) as well as a number of changed details. However, that’s the best place to start if you absolutely do not want to just read it from the beginning.
Is The Bokurano Manga Over?
The Bokurano manga is complete. It ended in 2009 with Volume 11, Chapter 66.
