Where Does The Black Lagoon Anime End In The Manga?

For as many anime there are that follow wandering mercenaries or killers for hire, there are profoundly few that actually focus on being a soldier for hire in a realistic world. Black Lagoon may need to keep an arm’s length between itself and reality by taking place in a fictional country, but it provides all the fun of grounded, albeit a bit grandiose, mercenary work. Better yet, it creates characters you love to watch cause mayhem.

Where To Start The Black Lagoon Manga After The Anime?

If you are looking to continue the Black Lagoon anime story with the manga, you can pick up the series after season 2 at Chapter 44.

Black Lagoon also has a OVA called Roberta’s Blood Trail that is canon. If you also watched the OVA, you would then pick up the Black Lagoon manga at Chapter 77.

What to Expect From The Black Lagoon Manga?

Throughout the Black Lagoon anime, you will find differences from the manga. Sometimes they are small like arcs told out of order, and sometimes they are bigger like Roberta’s Blood Trail having a different ending from the El Baile de la Muerte arc it was adapting in the manga. To be honest, the differences give some worth to reading the manga from the beginning, but the changes don’t necessarily effect your ability to just jump right into the manga and continue the Black Lagoon story.

Black Lagoon Side Stories

Black Lagoon also has a lot of side story manga series. They should, however, be read after you are more current with the Black Lagoon manga as there can be some crossover references.

These side series include:

  • Black Lagoon – Roberta Arc (Complete) – A compilation manga of Roberta’s story.
  • Black Lagoon: Sawyer the Cleaner – Dismemberment! Gore Gore Girl (Ongoing) – About Sawyer chopping up bodies for people with a chainsaw.
  • Black Lagoon – Eda – Initial Stage (Ongoing) – About undercover agent Eda.
  • Black Lagoon: Book of Venom – More lewd artbook than manga, but does contain a fun Black Lagoon x Jormungand crossover fan comic.
  • Black Lagoon – Phantom Bullet 000 (Complete) – Speculative prequel series that the author submitted with Black Lagoon. Black Lagoon got picked for publication so they reused many characters from this.

Is The Black Lagoon Manga Over?

The Black Lagoon manga is still ongoing. Since launching in 2002, it has had a painful release schedule, frequently going whole years without a volume release.

Will There Be A Black Lagoon Season 3?

There has been no announcement of a Black lagoon Season 3 anime.

As there hasn’t been an anime since 2011, things don’t look good for more Black Lagoon anime. Furthermore, there isn’t actually that much more manga story, given the complicated release schedule it has.
