I originally thought Beastars was going to be something different, but boy did it far exceed expectations. So much so, it became one of those series that I immediately needed to continue through the manga.

Where To Start The Beastars Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Beastars anime and want to continue the story with the manga, you can start at:
- If you finished Beastars Season 1 – You can start the manga at Volume 6, Chapter 49
- If You finished Beastars Season 2 – You can start the manga at Volume 12, Chapter 100
- If You finished Beastars Season 3, Part 1 – You can start the manga at Volume 16, Chapter 141
Please note that Season 3 is the final season of Beastars, so Season 3, Part 2 will be adapting to the end of the manga.
What to Expect From The Beastars Manga?
The Beastars anime is hardly a perfect adaptation of the manga. The biggest thing that you will notice between the anime and manga, aside from its fairly different art styles, is that the anime is decently censored in a lot of the more brutal moments of the series.
The censorship does mean that they changed a number of events, but usually only in small ways. Season 3 in particular has a pretty noticeable amount of small changes in the story, but you are still very much getting the overall story.
This means you don’t need to read the Beastars manga from the beginning, but you will see a more brutal story if you do.
As a note about Season 3 in particular, it has probably the most changes from the manga of any season before it. This time the changes were less about censorship, and more about tightening what was, admittedly, the messy, all over the place structure of the narrative that the manga had near the end. While it added and changed a number of parts to make Melon more central to what was going on, it did mean the anime had to carve out a lot of the more slice of life moments from around that time. So, perhaps a bit more value in re-reading from where Season 2 ended.
Is The Beastars Manga Over?
The Beastars manga is completed. It ended in 2021 with Volume 22, Chapter 196.
Will There Be A Beastars Season 3?
Several months after the end of the second season, Beastars announced its third season, titled “The Final Season,” suggesting that it will adapt the remaining chapters of the concluded manga. The final season will be released in two parts, the first in December 2024 while Part 2 has no release date.
