Bastard was a breed of anime from another age, and even for that age it was a touch outrageous. Still, if you enjoyed the heady mix of tits and magic, you’ll have better luck grasping the story with the manga than any anime adaptation.
Where To Start The Bastard Manga After The Anime?
If you happen to be a fan of the early 90’s OVA and want to pick up where that aborted gem left off, you can start the Bastard manga at Chapter 45.
As for the 2022 ONA anime (both seasons), you can start the Bastard manga after the anime at Chapter 82.
What to Expect From The Bastard Manga?
The major problem with the OVA wasn’t production issues, but rather that it skipped tons of content to just get to the good bits. As such, if you were looking to continue the anime with the manga after the OVA series, you may actually wish to start closer to Chapter 16 to better understand the story.
As for the more recent ONA anime series from 2022, that is actually a much better adaptation of the source material, but still does skip a few things. Nothing worth reading the series from the beginning for, however.
Is The Bastard Manga Over?
The Bastard manga is still ongoing, technically. The series started in 1988, went on hiatus in 2010, and has not returned for a proper ending. The latest chapter is Chapter 138.
Will There Be A Bastard Season 3?
There has been no official announcement of a Bastard Season 3 anime.
As it got a season 2 anime already, that does suggest that a season 3 of Bastard is more likely. However, we just have to wait and see.
