Where To Start The Baccano Light Novel After The Anime?
If you finished the Baccano anime and the canon OVA and wish to start the light novels, you can start at Novel 6.
However, the OVA and anime adapt the last two novels particularly badly, and it is recommended to, if not read from the beginning, to start at Novel 4. You will see some overlap, but you will get the correct story so you can continue on further.
Is The Baccano Light Novel Over?
The Baccano light novel is still ongoing. Since launching in 2003, the light novels have been on hiatus since 2016 as the author struggles with his health.
Where To Start The Baccano Manga After The Anime?
While Baccano has several manga series, they are arc-based adaptations, all are complete, and they don’t come close to adapting even the events shown in the anime.
Furthermore, the manga is unique in that it is telling the same story as the light novel, but in a slightly different way due to introducing new characters. This means that the manga can neither be used to follow up the anime or read events from the light novel in manga form, since it is a different product.
Regardless, the Baccano manga read order is:
- Baccano – From the 1700s (Complete, 2 Volumes) – Technically adapts events from Novel 11. Chronologically the events happen first.
- Baccano (Complete, 3 Volumes)
- Baccano! 1931 The Grand Punk Railroad (Complete, 2 Volumes)
What to Expect From The Baccano Source Material Compared to The Anime?
Baccano is not a series known for being easily grasped due to its complicated chronology, and the anime doesn’t help that. The Baccano anime, while enjoyable, is a terrible adaptation that gets worse as it goes on.
It is is much easier to read the light novels from the beginning than to try to jump in somewhere after the anime.
Will There Be A Baccano Season 2?
There has been no official announcement of a Baccano Season 2 anime.
It has been since 2008 when the OVAs was released, and Baccano, with its light novels on hiatus, fades only further into obscurity.
