Anime does enjoy its occasional Alice in Wonderland reference – and also enjoys making them brutal. However, Alice in Borderland sets itself up as one of higher end survival game series in terms of game quality without sacrificing some brutality.
You just won’t see much of it in anime form.

Where To Start The Alice in Borderland Manga After The Anime?
If you finished the Alice in Borderland OVAs and want to continue the story in the manga, you can start at Chapter 14.
The OVAs adapt four chapters of the five total chapters in Volume 2.
As an additional note, while I generally don’t mention or cover live action adaptations, the two-season Netflix live action adaptation of Alice in Borderland does adapt the entire base manga. It skips some face card backstories and a couple of games, but does adapt the ending. The live action does not adapt the sequel manga Retry or the spin-off, Alice on Border Road.
What to Expect From The Alice in Borderland Manga?
The OVAs are a pretty good adaptation of the manga story, but – obviously – they just don’t go very far into it.
Surprisingly, the live action is actually a pretty good adaptation, but the manga is still the best option to get the full story as intended.
If you watched the OVAs, you don’t need to read the story from the beginning unless you want to.
Is The Alice in Borderland Manga Over?
The original Alice in Borderland manga is complete. It ended in 2016 with Chapter 87.
The sequel manga series, Alice in Borderland Retry, is also complete. It ended in 2021 with Chapter 13.
You can also enjoy the also-complete Alice in Border Road spin-off about a female main character playing an all-women survival game. Alice in Border Road ended in 2018 with Chapter 31.
Will There Ever Be a Proper Alice in Borderland Anime Adaptation?
Living and dying in a 3 OVA series is a rough shake for Alice in Borderland. Hopes for more anime are further dashed because the live action was a full adaptation, was pretty good, but also wasn’t terribly popular either.
Maybe someday, Alice in Borderland. Maybe someday.
But that rabbit hole seems closed.
