Sports anime, especially ones that follow more obscure sports, live and die by their character stories. However, while the character drama was there in spades in Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club, it’s really the pacing of this series that kind of shoots itself in the foot.

Where To Start The 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Light Novel After The Anime?
If you finished the 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club anime and want to continue the story in the light novel, you can start at Novel 5.
2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club is a bit of a special case as a light novel. The novels themselves are pretty long compared to other light novels, so when published, they were separated into two parts. So the first two novels, if you were to buy them from a store, would just be the first light novel that was chopped into two parts due to length. So the start point, which is officially Novel 5, might also be called Novel 3 in some unofficial translations.
The anime adapted the First Season and Second Season light novels in full, and all there is left to read—at present—is the Haruko Arc novel (and the Run Up to the Sky/Sora e no Joso spin-off novel).
Is The 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Light Novel Over?
The 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club light novel is still ongoing. However, the author publishes sparsely, the last release being in 2021.
Where To Start The 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Manga After The Anime?
While 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club had a manga, it released four chapters then went on hiatus in 2018 for reasons I couldn’t find.
What to Expect From The 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Source Material Compared to The Anime?
Adapting four (or two, near-500 page) novels in twelve episodes of anime is not great, especially when it can be such a character-driven story. A lot of small things are cut out of the anime, and at some points, it makes some characters—who played much larger roles in the novel story—absolutely unimportant in the anime.
If you enjoyed the story and the characters in the 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club anime, you would definitely have a more flesh out, thoughtful experience reading the light novels from the beginning. As it does kind of neuter a few character story lines, and their development is actually kind of important, reading from the beginning rather than jumping into the light novel is strongly recommended.
Will There Be A 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Season 2?
As they cut so much out of the novels in the first season, the remaining two novels does not have enough content to make a 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Club Season 2 anime.
