Where Does The Tokyo Ghoul Anime End in The Manga?

Every time I, like probably a lot of fans, thinks about Tokyo Ghoul, I make a frowny face. The first season was fine – great, even. The second season, not so much.

Where To Start The Tokyo Ghoul Manga After The Anime?

Both seasons of Tokyo Ghoul d technically adapt to the end of the Tokyo Ghoul manga, and the sequel series, Tokyo Ghoul: Re, does technically adapt to the end of the Tokyo Ghoul: Re manga. However, neither Tokyo Ghoul or Tokyo Ghoul:Re are good adaptations of the manga and you should just read the series from the very beginning.

What to Expect From The Tokyo Ghoul Manga?

The Tokyo Ghoul anime started off strong, but quickly started abridging the story by the end of season one. The second season, Root A, was actually mostly anime-original content. So it picks up things at Chapter 67 where the first season of Tokyo Ghoul ended, did a mostly anime original story, and then essentially adapted the ending of the Tokyo Ghoul manga at Chapter 144.

While Tokyo Ghoul:re is a bit of a better adaptation of the Tokyo Ghoul:Re manga – compared to what Root A did, anyway – it is still considered a poor representation of the manga story. Both seasons of Tokyo Ghoul:Re are abridged and riddled with omissions.

Is The Tokyo Ghoul Manga Over?

The original Tokyo Ghoul manga is complete. It ended in 2014 with Chapter 144.

The Tokyo Ghoul:Re manga is also complete. It ended in 2018 with Chapter 181.

Will There Be More Tokyo Ghoul Anime?

While the Tokyo Ghoul anime was a bad, but complete adaptation of both Tokyo Ghoul and the Tokyo Ghoul:Re sequel, it has recently been hinted that a Tokyo Ghoul 10th anniversary anime project is being worked on. This could be a remake or it could be something wholly new. No one knows what the anime project will be or when it is coming.

Either way, new Tokyo Ghoul anime is on its way.
