Bartender is an underrated series and one that is fervently loved by alcohol lovers and people who gave it a shot. However, it is also sadly a manga series that hasn’t had much luck when it comes to anime adaptations. Both the adaptations are good, but not really adaptations of the manga.

Where To Start The Bartender Manga After The Anime?
Where to pick up the Bartender manga after the anime, regardless of whether you watched the 2006 or 2024 version, is complicated. It is recommended for both series that you read the Bartender manga from the beginning.
Technically, you can start the manga after the 2006 Bartender anime at Chapter 12. The biggest issue with the 2006 Bartender anime is it cut out all the characterization that you get for Ryuu and other characters. Instead, it was more meditative stories on people’s problems and how alcohol can help sooth them. So it plucks character stories from the first dozen chapters, cuts out all the characterization moments for the re-occurring characters, and does insert a few anime-original moments.
Now, for the 2024 version of Bartender, it is way more focused on characterization. So much that it cuts out a lot of the manga content, re-arranged events from the manga, and inserts a lot more anime-original elements to further build out the characters, including new characters not in the manga.
Neither Bartender anime adapts the original manga well. In fact, if they combined both anime series, it would probably be a better adaptation of the manga.
Do note that if you enjoyed the more educational and almost philosophical content about cocktails from the 2006 Bartender, the manga lacks a lot of that. The manga is telling a more linear story like Bartender 2024 with only the occasional alcohol knowledge bombs.
Is The Bartender Manga Over?
The original Bartender manga is complete. It ended in 2011 with Chapter 167.
Bartender Spin-Offs
Bartenders gonna tend bar, and will do so around the world.
- Bartender (2024) (Manga, Complete) – A five-chapter story to commemorate the new anime.
- Bartender a Paris (Manga, Complete) – New bartender, but in Paris.
- Bartender a Tokyo (Manga, Complete) – Sequel to Bartender a Paris about the main character tending bar in Tokyo.
- Bartender 6stp (Manga, Complete) – New world-traveling man working in bar in Tokyo ran by the main character from Bartender a Paris/Tokyo.
- La Sommeliere (Manga, Complete) – Technically not a spin-off, but its by the same author and about a Sommeliere (a person who chooses wine pairings), so it is worth mentioning.
Will There Be A Bartender Season 2?
There has been no announcement of a Bartender Season 2.
Bartender is an old series, but they rebooted the manga, so.. Who knows? It all depends on how profitable it proves to be.
